Farming Technique: Jim works a 4 acre grant on Whiteās Flat in Plymouth Bay.Ā The crew nurses seed in floating bags before transferring the crop to trays for the duration of the grow out.Ā The farm is located a quick boat ride from shore, about a quarter of a mile, and the oysters are harvested by hand at low tide.
Unique Factor:Ā For Jim, oyster farming is a true family business.Ā In 2012, he received the first lease on Plymouthās White Flat, and shortly after, Jimās brother Gene and his wife Nengsai started their own farm just a stoneās throw away.Ā In 2014, Jim was joined full-time by his daughter Ina and her longtime friend Sean.Ā We consider āem family too, in fact, these oysters are some of Skipās favoritesā¦and he rarely picks favorites.
